A Track Record of Working for Good

Our Board works together with dignity and a strong focus on good government. Faced with a $10 million deficit in the Community Mental Health Budget, our Board worked with County Administration, CMH staff and clients to eliminate the deficit while retaining services. We are working to reducing our carbon emissions to net-zero by 2035 in order to reduce our contribution to catastrophic global warming. As we work to increase the resilience of our community to weather related disasters we also build strong community relationships that benefit us in many ways. We are working with the Washtenaw County Road Commission to increase responsiveness to our residents. We are embarking on an update of our Master Plan, which has not been updated since 2004, working to increase broadband access in areas of Washtenaw County that do not have adequate (or any) internet, working to achieve better food access to residents, assuring access to health care for all people in Washtenaw County, and supporting our nationally recognized Sheriff’s Office in reducing crime in our community by focusing on building support systems. Through the sustained efforts of residents, County employees and elected officials, Washtenaw County is a leader in many areas and I am grateful to be an integral part of that work.
